This course is a specialization course that aims to provide students with the knowledge to understand and manage clinical and psychological issues related to sexual dysfunction and to provide them with the skill and ability to assess the clinical and mental health of patients with sexual dysfunction and the interconnection of this with the necessity of submitting to assisted reproduction treatment.

After the end of the course students will be able to:

  • Understand the physiology of sexual response, the classification of sexual dysfunction in men and women, the biological and psychogenic etiological factors of sexual dysfunction.
  • Recognize the emotional and psychological needs of patients with sexual dysfunction and develop communication skills to provide psychological and emotional support to couples experiencing sexual dysfunction undergoing in assisted reproduction.
  • Collaborate responsibly with other health professionals (mental health professionals, sex therapists) and  be active and functional members of a multidisciplinary team for the identification, referral and management of sexual behavior  problems.
