Dr. Georgios Lyrakos is a graduate of the Psychology Department, Crete and Nursing School of Athens. He holds a master’s degree in pain management from the Medical School of Ioannina, a master’s degree in Public Health with a focus on chronic diseases from ESDY, a PhD from the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA) and a post-doctorate from the University of Peloponnese, in stress management for chronic diseases. He has been trained in Cognitive Psychotherapy and had post graduate studies in Seattle (USA), W.H.O in Denmark, University of Dundee (U.K), International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, Inc. (ICISF) of Baltimore (USA) and in Geneva – HUG Hospital.

Today he is a Clinical Health Psychologist at the General  Hospital of Nikaia “St. Panteleimon”, Scientific Associate in University of West Attika, professor in the Psychology program of Mediterranean College and the Program Director of the MSc in Health Psychology of Cardiff MET in collaboration with City Unity College. He has been a research associate in the 2nd Dep. of Anesthesiology School of Medicine EKPA, in University of Peloponnese, a Lecturer PD407in Medical School of Athens and a local expert of Greece at the Council of Europe in the program improving the mental health of prisoners. Dr. Lyrakos has  published 3 monographs and 97 international publications, while he has participated in numerous Greek and international conferences, where he has received distinctions.
